Science Day at Epsom College

Year 5 attended the Epsom College Balloon Challenge. The girls spent the day in the labs undertaking experiments to launch a giant balloon. The balloon had a navigator attached to it and the girls had to find the best method to insulate the navigator. They then spent the afternoon coding  to understand how the navigator could be tracked. After checking with Heathrow airport, they were able to launch the balloon and track it. The winning balloon was the one that reached the highest altitude. Ours reached about 23,000 feet!  It was a very interesting and informative day.
