The Study Helps the Victims of Typhoon Haiyan

News

20.11.2013

Thanks to the generosity of parents, pupils and staff, we raised £1471 today for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan.  We are going to send our donation to ShelterBox.

We decided to give the proceeds from our mufti day to ShelterBox, following a special assembly we had last term, when we learnt all about the amazing work of this charity.  It provides emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies for families around the world who are affected by disasters.  From its base in Cornwall, ShelterBox has already sent many emergency boxes to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan and through our fund raising efforts today we will be able to finance more than two boxes.  Each box costs £590 and typically contains a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, groundsheets, water storage and filtration equipment, cooking utensils, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack and other vital items.
