The Magic of Christmas

St Mary’s Church Wimbledon was filled to the rafters on Monday evening when the Prep Department delighted the audience with a very special Christmas Carol Service.  Girls from Years 3 – 6 sang, performed readings and played instruments, filling the church with wonderful festive music and thoughts for the season.  The Spencer House and Chamber choirs sounded beautiful, singing with passion a selection of well loved hymns and Christmas carols, all led at the start by a wonderful solo vocal performance by Delilah in Year 6.   Instrumentalists all shone through, with string and woodwind quartets sounding fantastic and performances from Year 6 solo instrumentalists adding to the magic of the occasion, including Madeleine on trombone, Indigo on oboe and Lara on harp.  Clear voiced readers shared Christmas thoughts with the congregation, who all joined in, singing the hymns and carols and adding a touch of celebration to a wonderful evening.  Well done to all the girls, and many thanks to The Reverend Chris Griffiths of St Mary’s, Mr Dorman on organ, Mr Weale on piano and of course, to our very own Director of Music, Mrs Brown, and Olivia Travers who both organised this magical evening so professionally.
