Wilberforce House

Take a look at photos of our new building!

While teachers and girls have been busy with remote learning, we have been completing the finishing touches at our new Wilberforce House building.

We can't wait for the girls to return to this fantastic new space and wanted to take this opportunity to share a few pictures of what they will be returning to.

An inspiring learning space
The new building provides a spacious first floor and a beautiful pitched roof in three parts. It has been carefully designed by the architects to sit alongside our historic Octagon building, which has operated as a school since 1759.

Impressive Performing Arts Centre
The improved acoustics, lighting and tiered seating in this new space will make our renowned performances even more spectacular. Day-to-day we will use the space for play, clubs, workshops and assemblies.

The Jane Davis library
With a reading nook by the window that overlooks Wimbledon Common and shelves stacked high with books the new library, named in memory of our late Head of Admissions, will undoubtedly inspire a love of reading.

Bright and airy classrooms
Our Pre-Prep girls from reception to year 3 are based at Wilberforce House, and years 1 to 3 will enjoy the six new classrooms. The rest of the school, including Prep girls at Spencer House, will benefit from the shared learning spaces.

Re-landscaped playgrounds
The re-landscaped playgrounds enhance the external aesthetic of the school and the girls' leisure time. We love these benches that are just outside the Performing Arts Centre, surrounded by newly sewn grass and plants.

A warm welcome for visitors
Our new dedicated visitor entrance and lobby, which is now separated from the school car park, will ensure a safer and friendlier entrance for pupils, parents and visiting guests. We can't wait to make use of the exhibition space too.

It's incredible how the architect's CGI vision from before the build started is so close to the finished building. Take a look below:

The opening of the new building marks the culmination of a long journey, involving 7 years of planning and 18 months of construction. The building will not only enhance the education facilities for our current pupils, but it will also preserve the school for the education of future generations.

As soon as it is possible we will invite The Study Community to tour the building and celebrate its completion.
