Charity Fun Run

Family Fun in aid of Momentum and Footsteps

Girls, mums, dads and a few dogs all had a fantastic time on Friday 21st March at the Study’s Charity Fun Run, at Beverley Meads.  Luckily the rain held off, and it was a bright and breezy afternoon – perfect conditions for a run!  Mr Colin Holloway, Chairman of the Board of Governors, cut the ribbon to celebrate our new sports grounds, and scores of runners then followed our special “hare”  (thanks to Miss Brightwell!) to complete the Fun Run course, some making excellent time whilst others chose a more sedate pace!  The runners were sponsored or could make a donation in order to raise money for the charities Footsteps and Momentum (see information below).  Certificates of Achievement were handed out to all those who completed the course, and delicious hot drinks and biscuits were enjoyed by all at the end of the afternoon.  With many thanks to all the prep girls and their families who came along to take part in the run in aid of these excellent charitable causes;  to all the Study staff who volunteered on the day; and to the PE team for organising such a memorable and happy event!

Footsteps is a charity that focuses on changing the lives of children living in the desperately poor communities near Lake Victoria in Kenya. Its aim is to give the children the opportunity to become healthy, educated, self-sustaining and contributing members of their communities.

Momentum aims to help children (up to the age of 17) who are undergoing treatment for cancer in Surrey and Greater London. Momentum was set up by parents who have first hand experience of these life-changing events, with the simple goal of trying to help children and families in similar circumstances
