The Study's Superstar Athletes!

ISA Regional and National Athletics Results

Over the last week, the talented Study athletes have had the privilege of competing in two high profile athletics meets; the ISA Regional competition at The Military Track in Aldershot, followed by the Nationals which took place at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.

At the Regional meet, any competitor who came first in their event qualified for the Nationals. This was a tall order and highly competitive as 10 top schools took part.

The Regional results were as follows:

Year 4:  60m 1st  D O’Shea,   600m 1st  K Oestmann,  Long Jump  3rd L Barron, Ball 3rd M Young 

Year 5:  75m 1st T Bartlett,  150m 1st  A Cheeseman,   600m 1st  A Fery,  Long Jump  1st  K Brown,  Ball 3rd  A Fery,  High Jump 1st  S Williams

Year 6:  80m  3rd  L Martin, 150m  3rd  L Martin,  600m  1st  J Kelliher and 4th I Pennell,  Long Jump 3rd A Thompson,  Ball 2nd  E Williams, High Jump 1st  C Kengeter,  Shot Putt 2nd A Blase

Very excitingly ALL our relay teams achieved first place, what a result!

This fantastic performance meant that 15 of our girls qualified for the National Championships and travelled to Birmingham to compete on Monday 16th June.  The standard was incredibly high but our dedicated squad who had been training extremely hard were ready.

The Year 5 Long Jump was the first event and Kasia performed brilliantly to gain a Silver medal with a jump of 3.83m. This spurred everyone on and other excellent results resulted.

The National results were as follows:

Year 4:  60m D O’Shea 5th,  600m K Oestmann 4th   

Year 5:  75m T Bartlett  - National Champion!!    600m A Fery 6th,   High Jump S Williams Silver, 150m A Cheeseman -  National Champion and equalling the National record of 22.4secs. Amazing!!!

Year 6:  High Jump  C Kengeter  Bronze,   600m J Kelliher 8th

Once again our Relay teams were in excellent form:

Year 6: team of J Kelliher, I Pennell, L Martin and R Love  -  Bronze

Year 5: team of T Bartlett,  K Brown, S Williams and A Cheeseman  -   Silver

Year 4: team of A Michaels, M Young,  L Barron, and D O’Shea -  National Champions!! 

This is the best medal haul we have ever had and the girls should be very proud of their achievements and hard work.   Congratulations!
