Today we were visited by Kathryn Gilgallon, the deafblind and Deaf/Complex Service Co-ordinator at the Wandsworth Hearing Support Service, who came to tell us all about the work she does to help children at Linden Lodge School in Southfields.  The school provides education, care and support for deaf, visually impaired, deafblind and complex needs children and their families.

Kathryn’s talk was fascinating.  She showed us some of the ways children learn to read and recognise things when they are deafblind, and we all had a go at communicating using sign language.

We are raising money to help fund the much needed Family Centre which is to be built on the site of the school.  Our most recent fund raising activity was a book and cake sale at Wilberforce House which raised £443.48 and soon we are going to hold a ‘Dancethon’ at Spencer House
