Finding out more about our Autumn Term Charities: Footsteps and Momentum

News

14.11.2013

Over the last couple of weeks we have had two special assemblies to learn more about the charities we are supporting this term.

Footsteps (www.footstepsuk.org): Suzanne told us all about the lives of the children who live in desperately poor communities around Kisumu, near Lake Victoria in Kenya and how Footsteps has made a real difference.  We were pleased to see a lovely photo of some of the children wearing old Study uniforms!  As well as learning all about Footsteps we also learnt a few words of Swahili!

Momentum (www.moment-um.org): Natalie told us all about this local charity which was set up in 2004 to help children undergoing treatment for cancer and other life-limiting conditions, and their families, in Surrey and Greater London.   Momentum is responsible for significantly improving the environment within the children’s ward at our local hospital in Kingston and it finances a wonderful log cabin holiday home in the New Forest where families can go for well needed respite breaks.  These are just a couple of examples of the wonderful work of Momentum.
