Year 3 Picasso Day Art Workshop

The Year 3 girls had a whole day off timetable in order to learn all about the legendary Modern artist, Pablo Picasso.  The girls listened to a talk about Picasso and his life, focusing on his collaboration with Georges Braque and the birth of the Cubist movement.  The girls then worked as real artists would – doing an observational drawing in pencil from a still life arrangement, then translating this into an abstracted collage using the elements that inspired Picasso and Braque’s own still life compositions.

The girls’ final creative challenge was to print their designs onto T-shirts, which worked fantastically well and will serve and a wonderful momento of this creative session.  Here are some photos of the day.
