Wilberforce HouseWilberforce House is our modern, purpose built facility for girls from Reception to Year 3.
We know how daunting a new school can be for very young girls, so we have designed Wilberforce House to be particularly welcoming with colourful, light-flooded Reception classrooms built around an indoor play area.
Every effort is made to help the girls settle in happily and make friends quickly. There is a friendship bench in the playground for girls without a playmate, and a 'buddy system' of monitors who look out for such children and go and play with them.
In the early years the girls enjoy a balance of language, number, artistic and physical activities every day. In Year 3, the first year of the Prep Department, the day becomes more structured with more formal homework and twice-yearly evaluation tests. English and maths are taught in sets and some lessons take place at Spencer House to familiarise the girls with the new surroundings.
