Music
All girls have class music with a specialist teacher. For the youngest ones this will involve singing and percussion, progressing to music notation and theory by the time they enter Year 3, when all girls learn to play the recorder. We have a large number of highly qualified peripatetic music teachers who provide individual lessons in piano, violin, 'cello, woodwind and brass.
In addition to the orchestra, the girls have the opportunity to play in small ensembles.
We have four choirs at The Study with only the Chamber Choir, at Spencer House, requiring audition. Girls perform at both Open Days and concerts, sometimes involving a parents' choir as well. We also take groups to concerts at the Festival Hall and other venues, and invite professional players into the school.
