Music

At The Study everyone contributes to the vibrant musical life of the school.

All our girls have class music with a specialist teacher. They start with singing and percussion playing, and progress to musical notation and theory. All girls learn the recorder. A large number of highly qualified peripatetic music teachers provide individual lessons including piano, violin, 'cello, woodwind and brass.

Our girls have many opportunities to make music together in the school orchestra and several smaller ensembles, and everyone has the chance to show what they can do at both formal and informal concerts.

We have four choirs here at The Study. Girls perform at Open Days and concerts, both in and out of school. We also take groups to concerts at venues such as the Festival Hall, and invite professional players into school.

Pre-prep girls all enjoy timetabled ballet lessons from a visiting teacher.
