The Study Association

What is the Study Association?

The Study Association is an informal association of Study parents, which was set up to help the School organise social events for parents. Most of our events have a fundraising element. We also organise occasional fun events for the girls. We have no role in the administration of the school and are not a Parent/Teacher Association.

The funds we raise are donated to the school and to the charities the girls have chosen to support. At our AGM in June we determine which 'School Wishes' our parents support for the new School year.

The Committee

The Association is run by a committee of representatives consisting of two parents from each class and a chairman, co-chairman, secretary, treasurer and auditor. The representatives organise one coffee morning per term and other social events for their own class and liaise with parents on Association activities.

Association Events

There are usually four main events organised by the Association over the school year. We host a very popular Drinks Party in September for parents, staff and governors to meet informally and we have a Christmas Fair in November which involves the whole school. There is an entertaining Quiz evening in February and in the Summer Term we look after the social side of the Sports Day, providing the catering. We also arrange second hand uniform sales each term.

For the girls we organise a school disco in the Summer Term which is a very popular event.

Study Association Newsletter

Our newsletter is produced once each term to inform parents about past and forthcoming events, funds raised and what they will be spent on. It also incorporates a 'for sale'- and 'wanted' section for parents.

Donations

School donations
In recent years we have purchased several items for The Study, including a set of timpani drums, several computers, a plasma screen, books for the library and a sound system. We also contributed towards new Smart Boards, Science Room equipment and playground equipment.
Charitable donations
Each year we donate 50% of our Christmas Fair proceeds to the two charities the girls have chosen to support for the Autumn Term. In addition we may support other charities chosen by the girls in the following terms as well.
